Apologies for the recent lack of updates on the website. With the lack of racing during the winter we’ve been waiting until we had enough news to put in a post.
The pre-season races have begun for a few of our members. On the 1st of February, Matt Hacke and Ollie Thorogood took part in the Dawlish Aquathlon. Matt had a good race, despite having to stop briefly to tie his shoe laces, and finished 26th in the Men’s Sprint category with a time of 34:13. Ollie also had a strong race, though felt he could do better on the run next time. His time of 28:59 saw him finish 6th. The next Aqauthlon is in Sidmouth on the 8th of March and we hope to have a larger team taking part.
On the 22nd of February, Jack Bristow competed in the 9bar Chilly Duathlon at Castle Combe. Despite terrible weather conditions, Jack finished 19th with a time of 49:47.0 which almost made up for missing the BUCS Duathlon at the same course back in November. Nevertheless, Jack was very happy with his result, considering that he is usually weaker at duathlons anyway due to the lack a swim leg.
On a different note, we are very pleased to announce that Jack Bristow will be next year’s Athletic Union President, responsible for all student sport at the University of Exeter. We hope this means big things for the Triathlon Club in the future!
Keep an eye on our website for more regular race reports now that the season is underway.
