July saw plenty of success for Exeter students in their home races. Here’s a review of the month’s racing.
The month kicked off with club members doing two races in two countries. James Phillips, Paul Young and Ollie Teenan raced in Weymouth. James and Paul did the Standard distance race and finished 1st and 10th respectively. James finished a remarkable seven and a half minutes ahead of 2nd place! Ollie did the Middle distance triathlon and finished 1st in his age group with a time of 5:31:34, which was good enough for 14th overall. Meanwhile, Mathias Loft and Josch Ramcke competed in the ITU standard distance race in Hamburg. Josch finished 101st in his age group whilst Mathias finished 3rd in his.
The following weekend saw Jack Bristow compete in the City of Birmingham Sprint Triathlon in Sutton Park. His time of 1:09:41 saw him finish 2nd in his age group and 3rd overall, picking up another brilliant result for the club this summer. Ollie Teenan followed that up the following weekend with a 19th place finish in the Salty Sea Dog Sprint Triathlon with a time of 1:18:43. He was 7th in his age group.
This was a month where, though the club may have competed in fewer races, those that they did compete in all yielded fantastic results, which suggests that the club is in a strong position going into the final two months of the season.
