Now that the academic year is over, and many club members have returned home for the summer, there’s been racing taking place across the country. Here’s a review of all the racing that took place this June.
After the BUCS Olympic distance triathlon at the start of the month, the next weekend saw Jack Bristow finish 7th in the BRAT Sprint Triathlon with a time of 1:08:20 and Emily Paix finish 2nd in her age group in the Blenheim Palace Sprint Triathlon with a time of 1:30:35. Emily was thrilled to break into the top five in a race she had been targeting for the last five years, whilst Jack was very happy with his result in a race he was using for preparation for the BRAT Olympic Triathlon in August.
The following weekend, a group of club triathletes took part in the Bideford Sprint Triathlon. Sarah McKenna finished 11th in her age group whilst Jane Campbell finished 5th in hers. Matt Kinsbrook finished 43rd overall, 17th in his age group, and Ollie Teenan was 11th overall. Jack Turner was the top finisher for the club, finishing 8th overall in a time of 1:12:10.95. Elsewhere, Joseph Perkins finished 1st in his age group in the UK Ironman 70.3, meaning he qualified for the World Championships in Canada!
There was more half-Ironman action the next weekend, with outgoing club captain Mathias Loft racing in Ironman 70.3 Luxembourg. His time of 4:30:28 was good enough for an incredibly 105th overall. Meanwhile, Harriet Browning and Clare Parkin finished 3rd and 5th respectively in the South Cerney Sprint Triathlon whilst Paul Young and James Phillips were 37th and 2nd in the Olympic distance race. Jack Turner had another strong result this weekend, finishing 14th in the Bude Sprint distance triathlon with a time of 1:06:31.
Finally, Jack Turner and James Phillips closed out the month for the club. Jack finished 16th in the Wadebridge Sprint Triathlon with a time of 1:12:30 whilst James achieved another great results by finishing 2nd in the Boscombe Salty Sea Dog Triathlon with a time of 1:10:23, only twenty seconds behind the race winner.
Overall, this was a very good month for the club, with success being had in every race members of the club entered. Hopefully the great results will keep coming throughout the summer.
