With the new term rapidly approaching, and the London Duathlon and Hever Castle Triathlon to look forward to for some, it’s time to look back at what our members have been getting up to in the last month of summer. We take a look at each athlete:
James Phillips – After the successes of July, this has been a slightly quieter month for James. James was part of team that went to the National Relay Championships in Nottingham, and was happy with his time of 15:47 for 5K. He also won a 10K cross-country race, running in 39 minutes. James also finished 3rd in the Boscombe Sprint Triathlon, finishing in 1:21:54.0, just 42 seconds behind the leader!
Jack Turner – Jack took part in the Bideford Sprint Triathlon on the 25th, finishing 8th in a time of 1:13:32.80, so another strong performance, and another great result for Jack and the club.
Ollie Teenan – In keeping with his reputation for not being able to slow down, Ollie took part in four events in August: the Swanage Sprint Triathlon, the Boscombe Sprint Triathlon, the Sturminster Half Marathon and the Bournemouth Long Swim. He finished 60th in the Bournemouth Swim, swimming 3.8K in 1:41:35; ran the Sturminster Half Marathon in 1:27:10; finished 26th in the Boscombe Triathlon in 1:21:27 and finished 11th in Swanage, with a time of 1:27:25.8. Madness!
Andy Hill – Meanwhile, over Singapore, Andy completed his first and second triathlons in quick succession. He finished 229th in the Pokka Sports Water Tri-Factor Series Standard Triathlon in 3:13:05 and then followed that up with 151st in the Metaman Bintan Half-Iron Triathlon, finishing in 7:16:42.
Overall, another strong performance by club members, and we’ll be looking to build on that into the next academic year, and carry the momentum over to the BUCS Duathlon in November.
