It’s been a relatively quiet month for the club now that the BUCS calendar is finished, and members are back at home for the summer break.
Despite this, there have been a few races to report on.
Ollie Teenan finished 16th overall in the Bournemouth International Sprint Triathlon on the 7th. Despite having a tri-bar fall off during the bike leg, Ollie really enjoyed the race, and completed it in a time of 1:11:38.0. Full results can be found here.
On the 21st, two club members were in action at the City of Birmingham Sprint Triathlon in Sutton Park. Arlind Neziri, who had traveled up from London, completed his first Triathlon in a time of 1:26:15, placing 101st overall. Unfortunately, these are not official results, as Arlind lost his timing chip in the lake during the swim. Jack Bristow, a Birmingham local, completed the race in 1:11:03.55, with a strong sprint finish to snatch 9th place overall (beating the 10th place finisher by 0.45s)! Full results, unfortunately excluding Arlind, can be found here.
Finally, on the 27th, Ollie was back in action at the Salty Sea Dog Race 3, this time along with James Phillips and Jack Turner. Ollie finished 28th overall in a time of 1:21:00, narrowly missing out on 27th. Meanwhile both Jack and James placed in the top 10, finishing 10th and 2nd respectively. Jack completed the race in a time of 1:15:19 and James finished in 1:11:01, only 17s behind the winner! This was a very strong performance from the University of Exeter Triathlon Club, and full results can be found here.
All in all, July was a very good month for the club, with great results in all events. Hopefully we can carry the momentum on into August!
