This was a busy weekend for the club, with 7 members taking part in 3 different events.
On Sunday, Tom Kitchen, Lucy Argall, Bex Newell and Pete Wilby travelled to Cholmondely Castle for the BUCS Standard Distance Triathlon. Despite the rather miserable weather conditions, all four posted good times. Lucy was the fastest woman, with a time of 2:43:07, ahead of Bex’s time of 3:03:35. They finished 16th and 39th respectively out of the women, and 101st and 202nd overall. Tom finished 61st of the men in 2:34:00, 71st overall and Pete finished in an incredible 7th place, in an amazing 2:10:37! Hopefully the University of Exeter Triathlon Club can do even better next year.
Elsewhere, Aarhus in Denmark to be precise, Mathias Loft was taking part in the KMD Challenge Aarhus, a gruelling half iron-man distance race, consisting of a 1.9km swim, a 90km bike ride and a 21.1km run. Good weather meant it was very enjoyable, and Mathias eventually finished 5th in his age category with a time of 4:46:20.
On the Saturday, Ollie Teenan and James Philips competed in the Boscombe Salty Seadog Traithlon. Both did an incredible job just to finish the swim in very rough conditions, let alone the rest of the race! Ollie did well to recover from a crash on the cycle, and finished 22nd overall in 1:31:47. James did an incredible job to lead from the start and finish in 1st place in 1:20:09, 2 minutes clear of 2nd place!
Great results from all Exeter Triathletes!
